Advanced Shipping API

Like most shopping carts, Cartooga has a built-in shipping API that automatically gets real-time shipping rates from FedEx, UPS, and the US Post Office.  When your customers check out, the weight of the items in the cart along with their destination address are sent over to the shipping API and the rates from all 3 major carriers are returned.

But since we know that alone isn't good enough, we've added some more advanced options.  For starters, if you have your own account with UPS or FedEx you can supply your account number to our system and the API will get your actual shipping rate, instead of the generic rates.  Our system also lets you select only the shipping services you want to offer to your customers - for example, if you don't do overnight orders but you're OK with Ground and two-day, you can remove Overnight from the system and the customer will never see it as a selectable option.  Additionally, you can slip in a handling charge that automatically gets added to the number returned from the shipping API, allowing you to make a little bit of extra money on the shipping to cover the cost of packaging and handling.  Last but not least, you can also restrict recipients by country, so if you don't want to deal with international orders or only want to ship to specific countries you can check off the ones you want and customers won't be able to select them as a destination.

It's also worth mentioning that every individual product can have its own separate handling charge as well, so if some of your products warrant tacking on a few extra bucks you can do it.

Not interested in real-time rates?  No problem.

If you don't charge anything for shipping, or just want to have a flat-rate per item or per order, Cartooga handles that too.  Just specify what you want to charge and the system takes care of the rest.
