Customer Spotlight: WS Offroad

We were pretty excited when we first started talking to these guys. Ron Rule, Primordium's former President, is a motorsports enthusiast - but it's his Jeep you'll usually see him in.  So we were naturally interested in making a site that was cool, functional, and gave end-users the desired experience they would expect from an aftermarket Jeep parts & accessory vendor.

But before we did anything, decided this site was going to need some cool action shots - so we loaded up the Jeep for a day of off-roading with Anthony and George.  You know, for research.  The mud-slinging and water crossing pictures from that day are still in rotation on the home page.  Mission accomplished.

We created their logo and developed some new functionality in Cartooga to make this site happen called tag-locks.  The thing about automotive sites is that different parts are only compatible with different model-years, and it's the site's responsibility to only show customers the products that are going to work on their vehicle.  As products were imported, we made sure that each one was properly tagged with the year and model.  The tag lock feature is a drop menu that lets a customer select from a predefined list of tags, and once a selection is made the system "locks it" into memory and only shows products containing that tag, until the customer resets it or locks a different tag.

This let customers come to the site, select the type of Jeep they have, and as they browsed they would only see items that worked with their specific Jeep.  We also hooked the guys up with some plastic gift cards which they sell and give away at shows.

In the end, the site was a hit and helped WS Offroad continue the cult-following they had on JKOwners.com and other Jeep forums.  We don't normally plug customer sites, but these guys know Jeeps like no one else and if you're in the market to make your Jeep more capable or just look the way a Jeep is supposed to look, visit their site and give them a shout.
