Customer Spotlight: Gear Head Shampoo

So the story goes that a group of car buffs had rented the Gainesville Raceway's road course for a day to run some of their own cars around the track and one member of the group announced "You know, I bet if you put mens shampoo in a quart of oil bottle guys would buy it."

And thus the product was born.

When Gear Head was ready to launch their online store, the Cartooga platform was the only logical choice.  In the early days, Gear Head offered a "put your own car on our label" feature where customers could upload a picture of their car and the Gear Head guys would print a custom label with the customer's car on it.  It was a great gift idea and a successful campaign, which was only made possible by Cartooga's Require User Input feature.

After customers would order this particular product, the system would automatically request they upload a file - right on the order confirmation page - before the order would be submitted for processing.  The server automatically checked the dimensions of what was uploaded based on the store's requirements, and would deliver the image to Gear Head along with the order.  Gear Head could then view what was uploaded, approve or reject the customer's picture, and process their order normally.

Sales spiked after Playboy magazine caught wind of the product and featured it as one of their top ten gift ideas for 2008, and Cartooga's servers handled the traffic effortlessly.  Gear Head is currently working on a national retail deal.
