Customer Spotlight: A Perfect Pear
In April of 2009, A Perfect Pear's founder Susan Knapp was in the midst of filming a segment for a new ABC reality series called Shark Tank and knew her website needed a make-over. The show was scheduled to air in August.Cartooga CEO Ron Rule was introduced to Susan through infomercial king Kevin Harrington, one of the "sharks" on the show, and within an afternoon the group put a strategy together to get all of her products up and ready to be purchased, transfer her existing site content, and launch a brand new online store. We also helped her acquire the domain aperfectpear.com from a private party, since her old online store had been running from the less popular .net and .biz TLD's.
Our goal was to preserve the names and content on her existing pages, but completely revamp the e-commerce side with an updated layout that was easier to navigate and some high-resolution product images. Some of the products also had FDA-required nutritional labels which had to be taken into consideration. And of course we wanted this new content to be indexed and ready by the show's August launch date.
"Believe it or not, when you tell someone to visit a website, most people don't type it into the address bar - they type it into a search box and then just click the first result." said Ron Rule, CEO of Cartooga. "Since we were expecting a lot of traffic to come as a result of the show, we needed to make sure that everything was done well in advance of the air date and that everything was properly indexed so that #1 Google position was sending visitors who were interested in the products to the right place."
Everything was completed ahead of schedule and Susan's new site was launched without a hitch. In the end, Susan wow'd the sharks with a selection of gourmet treats and the investors made a $500,000 investment into her company.
